The main motive of the project which constitutes the belief of our organization is that domestic violence is not only a private matter, rather a public concern and it is preventable. We aim to disseminate this notion to our participants and make them aware of what domestic violence includes, what the common causes are, and what types of violence there are. Besides to introduce what laws are enacted on national and international level, we plan to represent the profiles of abusers and victims with statistical data. Violence is a destructive force which can strike personal life, families and the community. However the victims often remain silent about it and abuse becomes a family secret. It is for this reason that impactful steps must be taken to combat against prejudices, gender stereotypes, to make the subject more visible and raise awareness. Turkey is still one of the countries that suffers from it the most. While gender stereotypes are deeply vivid in the society which pave the way for women`s unequal standing in society and domestic violence.
