“OpportuNEETys” is an youth exchange project based on creating and offering job and study opportunities
for the young people coming from the countries involved in the program with the highest percentage of NEET youth. The studied problem within the project (NEET youth) is a global one that concerns the international community very much because NEET actually means: unemployment, exclusion, poverty, lack of proper education, immigration and others – problems that the European youth is dealing with.

The aim of the project is to make efforts to help reduce the number of NEETs in the communities involved in the
project by creating and offering employment opportunities, initiating studies, training, volunteering, etc.

Research has shown that among young people the wish to become an entrepreneur and their assessment of its feasibility is lower in EU member States than in comparable and emerging economies. While many European countries lack in terms of educating young people on entrepreneurship, the level of youth unemployment remains very high in several EU member states. This spreads awareness about the economic and social consequences associated with long- term disengagement from the labor market. Furthermore, youth unemployment remains high in countries neighboring the EU and thus causes the deterioration of their economy. That affects the EU member countries in a negative way since a lot of people from these neighboring nations decide to immigrate in EU. The bad economic situation in both EU and non-EU countries is related to austerity, which is associated with various political and social problems such as undermining democracy, abuses of human rights and rise of nationalist parties.

During the week of the activity, the participants will explore through workshops and activities based on non-formal education different tools and techniques in the field of entrepreneurship, management, leadership, finance and law that will work as a way of learning how to plan a business idea and in which aspects to focus more. Through creative and thought-provoking group activities, participants will learn to cooperate with each other, negotiate and improvise. Participants will also practice working under some pressure (limited time or resources) which will help them learn how to compromise, organize their thoughts more effectively and take initiative. Participants will be in positions where they will experience taking
